CHP & Embedded Power Generation - Green Frog Genovate

CHP is a more efficient use of generating electricity as it uses the heat produced from the electricity generation which is usually discarded as waste heat.Similarly, CCHP, (combined cooling, heating and power) or trigeneration is the use of a generator to produce cooling, as well as heat and electricity.

CHP reduces carbon emissions and fuel consumption significantly compared to the separate means of conventional generation via a boiler and power station.CHP is often the measure that offers the most significant single opportunity to reduce energy costs, to improve environmental performance and to meet energy efficiency requirements.

Environmental Friendliness

Based on the total energy generated, cogeneration plants typically cut NO2 and CO2 emissions by almost 50% compared to thermal power plant/boiler systems, while complying with the strictest emissions regulations.

Saving Money

As a rule, CHP units need to run for at least 4,0000 hours per annum to be economically viable.

Using CHP, a proportion of an application’s electricity requirement is generated by mains fed gas, the overall cost of energy used by the building is reduced. The reason being mains sourced gas is less expensive than grid sourced electricity. Typical prices are 7-12 p per kWh for mains electricity, but only 2-4p per kWh for mains gas.
